It has sadly been confirmed that actor Cameron Boyce, known for his roles in the Disney Channel  “Descendants” and the TV show “Jessie,” has died. He was just 20 years old.

The cause of death of Cameron, who played Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil, was announced as “an ongoing medical condition”.

A family spokesman told NBC News:

“It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we report that this morning we lost Cameron,” a spokesperson said on behalf of the Boyce family. “He passed away in his sleep due to a seizure which was a result of an ongoing medical condition for which he was being treated. The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him.

“We are utterly heartbroken and ask for privacy during this immensely difficult time as we grieve the loss of our precious son and brother.”

Cameron had launched his acting career at the age of nine, having appeared in the horror film Mirrors following with Adam Sandler’s movie Grown Ups as one of the Hollywood star’s onscreen children

His role as Luke Ross alongside Jessie Prescott, played by Debby Ryan in the Disney Channel TV series, “Jessie”propelled him to fame. Jessie ran for four wonderful seasons and 98 episodes. Then Cameron Boyce stared in the Disney Channel Descendants I in 2015 & then again in Descendants II in 2017.

He also voiced Jake in the animated series Jake And The Neverland Pirates.

A Disney Channel spokesman said in a statement:

“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fuelled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work.

Cameron Boyce had dedicated himself to charity work in recent years, introducing former Vice President Joe Biden at his Biden Courage Awards in March, and he was honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award at last year’s Thirst Gala, sponsored by the Thirst Project, a nonprofit for which Boyce raised $30,000 to build wells for clean drinking water in Swaziland.

Cameron’s third Descendants film was scheduled for release in the US on August 2. Disney is yet to confirm whether this will still go ahead after the tragic news.

“We at Daily Disney News offer our deepest condolences and hearts to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”
