Deleted Touching ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Scene Shows Heroes Honoring Fallen Brother
Marvel just released a deleted scene from the fourth and final Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame, and it’s guaranteed to have Marvel fans in tears.
The scene takes place just after Tony Stark defeats Thanos with the Infinity Stones. Coming in at under two minutes, the clip depicts Pepper Potts saying her goodbyes as the camera swings to focus on other major MCU characters when Hawkeye gets down on one knee in honor of his late friend. This then starts a chain reaction, which is followed by Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Star Lord, Nebula, Valkyrie, Captain America, Doctor Strange and the rest of the group.
“In the theatrical version, we cut to the characters getting back to their lives post “Blip” before attending Stark’s funeral, but here they take a knee in tribute to the fallen hero,” Joe and Anthony Russo explain
The scene is a touching one and only didn’t make it into the finished film because directors Anthony and Joe Russo felt the subsequent funeral scene was ultimately more powerful. The duo told USA Today, “It’s a beautiful scene with moving performances, but we filmed it prior to Tony Stark’s funeral. The funeral scene ultimately became a more resonant and emotional reflection on Tony’s death for us.”
