NEW: Oogie Boogie Bash Coming to Disney California Adventure Park

The first-ever Oogie Boogie Bash will be held at Disney California Adventure (unlike the previous Mickey’s Halloween Party, which was held at Disneyland).

If you have never been to Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park, this is a separate ticketed even like it.

The actual party begins at 6pm and continues until 11pm PT. However, you can get into Disney California Adventure at least three hours prior to the party beginning. On Sundays and October 29 and 31, you can get into the park four hours early. That’s either eight or nine full hours of Disney Halloween fun.

This is the most exciting part of all. The Oogie Boogie Bash has so many new and exclusive offerings available at the party. Here is a quick breakdown of what to expect:

  • “Villianous!” – This is an all-new nighttime show that takes the place of World of Color on Oogie Boogie Bash nights. It will use the same fountains, lights, lasers, projections and special effects to bring a whole new spooky story featuring Disney’s most dastardly villains.
  • DescenDance – An all new dance party featuring the infamous “Descendants” from the Disney Channel will take place during the party at the Backlot in Hollywood Land. Here you’ll learn some cool new moves to songs from the “Descendants” films.
  • “Frightfully Fun Parade” – This hit parade from Mickey’s Halloween Party has now found a new home at Disney California Adventure Park as part of the Oogie Boogie Bash. The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow leads the parade followed by Mickey and Minnie, Disney villains and much more. It’s a frightfully good time!
  • Mickey’s Trick or Treat show – This all-new show is perfect for the tiniest trick-or-treaters and is held inside the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land. It is interactive and candy is involved. What’s not to love?
  • Redwood Creek Challenge Trail – If you think you know this woodsy area of Disney California Adventure Park, think again. It will be completely transformed into a Halloween dreamland with colors, sounds, lights and shadows
  • Immersive Treat Trails – No Halloween party is complete without trick-or-treating and the Oogie Boogie Bash takes it to the next level. Not only will you find giant caldrons full of treats, you will be greeted by iconic characters like the Mad Hatter from Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” and Oogie Boogie himself – it is his party after all.
  • Character encounters – Not only will the villains be out in scores, you’ll also find some of your favorite classic Disney Characters dressed in their Halloween best. You’ll want to have your camera ready to say “cheese!”

****Remember, although Disney California Adventure Park will be closing at 6pm to guests not attending the Oogie Boogie Bash, Disneyland Park will remain open to those who have a Park Hopper ticket. Additionally, Downtown Disney and the restaurants of the Disneyland Resort Hotels will also remain open later to accommodate guests who do not have a party ticket and may or may not have a Park Hopper ticket. ****

Christmas Time at Disneyland Resort-

The atmosphere is something unlike any other time of year, there’s something magical about taking your first steps into Disneyland. The towering Christmas tree (60 feet!) with over 1,800 ornaments will grab your attention first thing. It’s the perfect spot to stop for a Christmas card-worthy picture before wandering down Main Street U.S.A. and experiencing all the smells and holiday decor!

“it’s a small world” holiday

Combines the musicality of “it’s a small world” and “Jingle Bells” while celebrating holidays around the globe.

Some of the most magical transformations happen in Disneyland During the Holiday Season!

“It’s a small world” Holiday has an estimated 50,000 Christmas lights installed on it’s façade. The breathtaking and intricate lighting design calls for six brilliant colors that interplay with clear twinkling lights. The nighttime splendor comes aglow with more than 300,000 watts of light!

100 percent of the holiday overlay props and scenic elements used are actually stored inside the attraction all year ‘round!  It takes 12 Technical Services cast members 5 nights a week for 7 weeks (35 days!) to install the glittering yuletide  outside façade.

Inside the attraction it takes more than 20 Technical Services cast members 18 days in a row to decorate the holiday attraction’s dazzling interior!

Haunted Mansion Holiday

Is the Nightmare Before Christmas holiday mash-up that carries through both Halloween Time and the entire Holidays at the Disneyland Resort 2018. Our favorite is the giant gingerbread house that is highlighted in the ballroom scene.

The graveyard in the Haunted Mansion Holiday finale is covered with 7,500 square feet of snow. Trees in the graveyard are decked out with 1,000 tiny orange lights.

Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle

When Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle show reaches its finale, more than 60,000 LED lights and 1,200 strobe lights combine to create the effect!

A Christmas Fantasy Parade

Each performance of “A Christmas Fantasy” parade features 105 performers, 18 float drivers and 12 musicians. With daily parade performances, it takes approximately 200 performers to stage the parade during the holiday season.

“Believe… In Holiday Magic” Fireworks

is a heartwarming display that ends with a magical snowfall on Main Street, U.S.A.. It is unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Feel your spirit soar during this splendid pyrotechnical spectacle. As the sky overhead lights up with dazzling color, more than 80,000 twinkling lights illuminate Sleeping Beauty’s Winter Castle with sparkling “icicles” and shimmering snow-capped turrets.

Holidays at Disney California Adventure Park

Holidays at Disney California Adventure - Cars Land

Disney California Adventure is the place to be during the holiday season. There are decorations throughout the park, including Buena Vista Street and Cars Land. Every address along Route 66, including Flo’s V8 Cafe, Fillmore’s Taste-In, Cozy Cone Motel and Luigi’s Casa della Tires, gets a holiday makeover. Two Cars Land rides get seasonal overlays — Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl and Mater’s Jingle Jamboree! There are also frogtastic food offerings at the Festival of the Holidays, with several festival marketplaces offering delish dishes and delectable desserts from around the world. Disneyland Christmas 2019 - Disney California Adventure Festival of Holidays - Tres Caballeros

This can’t-miss celebration will delight you with diverse cultural celebrations, including the popular ¡Viva Navidad! Holiday street fiesta and Princess Elena’s Musical Grand Arrival. Enjoy lively Mexican music, face painting, storytelling, crafts, festive foods, photo ops with favorite characters and tasty Mexican specialties. Three Kings Day, a traditional festival celebrated in Mexico, Central and South America, will run in January 2020.

Holidays at Disneyland 2019 - Kwanzaa Festival of Holidays Crafts

During the Festival of Holidays, you can typically decorate cookies at Treats for Santa (for a fee) or do free crafts related to many holidays including Hanukkah, Christmas, Diwali, Kwanzaa and Navidad. Your little princesses can also design a tiara from Elena of Avalor. There are some interesting meet-and-greets to find throughout the parks, as well. Chip ‘n’ Dale are in Redwood Creek awaiting acorn gifts. In the Paradise Gardens festival, you can meet Goofy, Mickey, Minnie and the Three Caballeros. Elena also greets her guests in that area.

Be sure to experience the ride layovers — Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl. At dusk, check out the Cars Land lighting. There is a nightly Christmas tree lighting on Buena Vista Street.

Along the Festival corridor and near the entrance to Pixar Pier, keep a lookout for the highly entertaining toy drummers. Their show is short, sweet and definitely worth catching. There are stages with live entertainment from such acts as Mostly Kosher, Blue13 Dance Company, The Sound, Mariachi Divas and Phat Cat Swinger.

California Adventure also has a HUGE Christmas tree, perfect for pictures!-

Back in 2018, snow began to fall in Disney California Adventure every 20 to 30 minutes after dark near the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. The area is decorated for the holidays and we loved the new addition of snowfall along the peaceful walkways. (Not sure it it will happen this year again, but hoping it will.)

We are thrilled that World of Color has finally arisen from the deep waters of refurbishment, so we expect the holiday version, World of Color — Season of Light, to return for Disneyland Christmas and the Festival of Holidays 2019. The holiday show is electrifyingly magical. There is also usually a special World of Color New Year’s Eve countdown with fireworks on Dec. 31.

Here is just a little clip from World of color Season of Light
