Disneyland Celebrates 64 Years Featuring The Dapper Dans, Disneyland Band, Characters, and More!

For 64 years, Disneyland Park has been creating magic for guests of all ages. Disneyland has become “The Happiest Place on Earth.” and yesterday, Disneyland celebrated 64 years with special entertainment.

Since Disneyland opened to all on July 17, 1955, the concept has grown from a place where families could play together to multiple, world-class resorts where families and friends enjoy vacations around the globe.

What started with a dream while watching a carousel with his daughter on a park bench, Disneyland brought a new reality and concept to family entertainment.

As part of the tribute to opening day, a recording of Walt Disney’s speech on the opening day of Disneyland was played again: “To all who come to this happy place, welcome! Disneyland is your land. Here, age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America, with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

Festivities included “The Happiest March on Earth”, featuring Disneyland Resort Ambassadors, Dapper Dans, and a full cast of characters leading guests in a round of “Happy Birthday to You” in celebration of this happiest place. The march took place twice yesterday, one at 2:50 PM and one at 5:20 PM.

What’s a celebration without cupcakes! Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe had these delicious cupcakes in celebration of 64 years of #Disneyland.

The July 17 festivities are only part of the fun this summer. Starting today for a limited time, guests may see Mickey Mouse and his friends join the Disneyland Band for performances of “Mickey and Friends Band-Tastic Cavalcade” at Disneyland park. Beginning Aug. 2, the beloved “Main Street Electrical Parade” returns to Disneyland for a limited-time, bringing guests of multiple generations a sense of wonder, joy and – for some – warm nostalgia. This popular nighttime parade will travel down Main Street, U.S.A., each night through Sept. 30.
