Disneyland Park Has Become A “Ghost Town”
Is Disneyland a ghost town?
Guests are claiming Disneyland Park has become a ghost town after the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and that the rest of Disneyland feels “empty.”
With the opening of the highly anticipated $1 billion, 14 acre immersive Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, where you can pilot a millennium falcon, build lightsabers and drink blue milk, you would not expect Disneyland to be this empty. But, guests of Disneyland Resort still claim it’s a “ghost town.”
This comes as a bit of a surprise, not only because summers at Disneyland are usually busy and crowded, but also because Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge recently opened at the end of May.
According to the The Orange County Register , guests have reported a decrease in wait times as well since the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
I took these screen shots from my cell phone a few days ago-
As you can see, the wait times are ideal and very short, to compare to what they should be.
To ensure that the park wouldn’t be mobbed with Star Wars fans, Disneyland wisely put some crowd-control measures in place; Galaxy’s Edge was only accessible to those with reservations until June 23. But it seems that the measures worked too well, depending on whom you ask.
This week, long after the reservation embargo, the park is empty. Well, empty for Disneyland.
That’s right — if you visit Disneyland right this minute, you’ll find a scene out of your theme park dreams: Pulling up to your favorite ride and hopping right on with little to no wait. It’s even being called a “ghost town” by some visitors.
By the numbers: Wait times have decreased at Disneyland, too, according to Yahoo News.
- The Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride has seen wait times of 30 to 60 minutes instead of two or three hours, as initially thought.
- Wait times for Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean have been cut in half to 10 to 15 minutes.
- Matterhorn Bobsleds and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad have also seen decreased times.
