Ex-Disney Employee Sells Fake Tickets, Surrenders To Police
Fan, an ex-Disney employee of Shanghai Disneyland has turned himself into the police after he claimed to have been selling fake tickets to the park, which earned the man a small fortune.
Fan, the ex-Disney-employee in question, allegedly produced over 6,000 fake e-tickets for Shanghai Disneyland, in which he had earned over 2.2 million yuan. For those of you who want to know how much that is in the US, this is close to $318,000!
The ex-Disney employee had worked in the park until 2018 when he resigned, and after ending his job with the Disney Park, Fan took to selling and producing the fake tickets at his home, which he sold from December 2018 to April 2019.
Fan was able to access the company’s website after he left the company, where he was able to download e-tickets the company gives it’s employees. Since he no longer worked for the company, his tickets had expired. However, Fan downloaded the e-tickets anyway and modified the words on the tickets from “2017 summer” to a valid date.
Each ticket the ex-Disney employee reportedly sold was 100-200 yuan, which in U.S. Dollars comes to $14.44 to $28.88 per ticket! to put this discount into perspective from a regular price admission, a single day in Shanghai Disneyland can run anywhere from ¥399.00 to ¥575.00, which is equivalent to $57.61 to $83.03.
To cover up the fake ticket sale, Fan would purchase authentic tickets for the tourists before they would visit the park.
Fan was able to gather a large number of tickets in a short amount of time and had assumed that he could make more money with the money he had before paying for more expensive real authentic tickets. According to police, he believed that most of the people he sold his fake e-tickets to wouldn’t go to the park right away.
However, more people needed the real authentic tickets than he had originally expected leaving him with no more money to buy tickets for them.
Fan ended up turning himself into the police because he believed his customers would eventually figure out that the e-tickets were fake and figure he was a fraud.
Fan, the ex Disney Employee, claims he sold the fake theme park tickets to shanghai Disneyland because he had been out of a job since he resigned from his job at the theme park last year.
