First Trailer for Pixar’s “Onward” imagines elves in a modern fantasy world

Disney/Pixar has released the first trailer to their new motion picture, “Onward.” The first teaser trailer was released during the NBA Finals and it’s time to see if this world still has some magic left in it.

Onward, the latest film from Pixar Animation Studios, takes place in a “suburban fantasy world,” where elves use cell phones, unicorns are pesky raccoon-like creatures, and wise, magical trees grow in the middle of parking lots,

Onward follows two brothers, teenage elves voiced by Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) — who seek out excitement that they’re sure must still exist somewhere. With so many unicorns around, shouldn’t there be at least some kind of magical quest they can embark on? Some kind of heroic adventure?

The first trailer gives us a proper glimpse of this fantasy land, where machines have replaced magic.
