Guide to the Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort

This year the official Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort festivities began Friday, September 7th. This is also the earliest Halloween Time has ever begun at the Resort!

Here is a glimpse of what you can expect during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort 2018 broken down by park:

Haunted Mansion Holiday-

 Each fall the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park, get’s a Holiday makeover of the “Night Before Christmas” with festive decorations courtesy of the Pumpkin King himself, Jack Skellington.

Disney California Adventure Park Halloween Time 2018

• Oogie Boogie overlay and decor throughout Buena Vista Street:  Oogie Boogie has risen from the shadows to take over Disney California Adventure, and his oversized silhouette rises above the main entrance turnstiles, and a swarm of bats encircle Carthay Circle Theatre
• Cars Land overlay: including a transformation of the town of Radiator Springs turning into Radiator Screams. There are also two ride overlays; Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.
• Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! : turns into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
• Seasonal merchandise and menu items throughout the park
• We highly recommend visiting Cars Land for Haul-O-Ween ( at Cars Land) just before sunset, and sticking around for the unique lighting moment (it’s different from the normal one).

Super Hero Lightning McQueen and Vampire Mater meet & greets are incredibly popular (and the costumes are HILARIOUS!). There’s also the  Clown Red costume on red the fire truck, which is just adorable.

We’d recommend asking a Cast Member when the sets for each character start, and jumping into line 5 minutes before one of their sets. Once the vehicle actually appears, the lines tend to balloon.

For the new Haul-O-Ween overlay in Cars Land, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree becomes Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters transforms into Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween.

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! will transform into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark every night once the sun sets. This means you can experience two versions of this attraction in the same day.

Monsters After Dark has a new plot, starting immediately after the conclusion of Mission: BREAKOUT when (spoiler alert!), the Guardians have successfully escaped the Collector’s Fortress. Unfortunately, Groot was accidentally left behind. So now you’re helping Rocket distract the creatures while he saves Groot. There’s also a new song, “Monsters After Dark,” created especially for this attraction.

Disneyland Halloween Party 2018 Dates

This year Mickey’s Halloween Party begins on Wednesday, September 19th. Parties will be held on the following dates:

September 19, 21, 24, 26 and 28

October 2, 5, 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26, 29, 31

This means that in September, once the parties start, you can expect parties Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. Then, in October, most weeks the party will only be held on Tuesday and Friday nights. Then, the week of Halloween, the party will be held on Monday and Wednesday.

If you’re thinking of getting tickets, here is what else you’ll need to know:

• Tickets sell out each year, so you’ll want to get yours as soon as possible
• Tickets are only available for purchase directly through Disney
• Tickets depend on which party you are going to and range from $105 – $130
• Adults and children ages 3-9 are the same price. Children ages two and under do not need tickets
