Hong Kong Disneyland Is To Close Again Days After Disney World ReOpens

Just a few short days after Walt Disney World opened to the public, Disney has announced that Hong Kong Disneyland will be temporarily closing its gates once again due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

“As required by the government and health authorities in line with prevention efforts taking place across Hong Kong, Hong Kong Disneyland park will temporarily close from July 15,” the Hong Kong Disneyland website states. No reopening date has been announced yet.

Hong Kong Disneyland is closing after an increase of 52 new COVID-19 cases in the city as of July 13. In the United States, the state of Florida shattered the U.S. record and saw over 15,000 new COVID-19 cases in a single day over the weekend. Still, the Walt Disney World parks is still underway, with Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom already open and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopening this Wednesday.

Fans are wondering if Disney will decide to re-close the gates of the Disney World theme parks, too since the  number of COVID-19 cases in Florida keep rising.

When it comes to the west side of the United States, there is still uncertainty. Up until today, Disneyland Resort was going to be the last resort to fully reopen amid the pandemic. Hong Kong Disneyland was the second Disney park to close, and it was also the second to reopen. But now that no reopening date has been given for Hong Kong Disneyland and we still don’t know a reopening date for Disneyland and Disney California Adventure in Anaheim only time will tell which of the two theme parks,  Hong Kong Disneyland or Disneyland in California reopens first.

At this time, Disney has not shared any updates regarding the reopening of Disneyland Resort. However,  Downtown Disney reopened to the public last Thursday, but there is currently no set date for the reopening of the Disneyland Resort theme parks or Disney Resort hotels.
