Universal's Epic Universe

Universal Orlando has just announced, Today that construction has begun for “Epic Universe,” a long-rumored fourth park that executives promised “forever changes theme park entertainment.”

The massive new park, “Epic Universe” is the company’s first new property since the water park,  Volcano Bay opened in May 2017.   Epic Universe is the “most immersive and innovative theme park” in its lineup, which also includes Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure Park.

Universal Orlando promises “experiences beyond your wildest imagination” via new rides — including at least two new roller coasters, judging by the concept art above — an entertainment center, hotels, retail outlets, restaurants, and journeys upon which “beloved stories expand into vibrant lands” at the “Epic Universe” property. Ultimately, this expansion will create more space and freedom to let loose and create lasting memories with the people you love.

“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” Tom Williams, chairman and CEO for Universal Parks and Resorts, said in a statement. “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created. It is an investment in our business, our industry, our team members and our community.”

Resort officials said the new park is a win for the Central Florida economy, too. The company plans to hire an additional 14,000 employees to staff the park and new hotels, shops and entertainment venues. Universal Orlando is the third-largest employer in the area, with more than 25,000 employees. Universal declined to provide an opening date for the park, but here’s hoping it goes a bit smoother than a recent launch. When the “Harry Potter”-themed roller coaster Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened at Islands of Adventure in June, fans waited up to 10 hours through technical issues and lightning storms for their turn to ride.
