New Villainous World of Color, Immersive Treat Trails, Rare Characters & More At Oogie Boogie Bash
Well, well, well, what have we here? The Nightmare Before Christmas’s bug-stuffed sack has taken over the Halloween duties at Disneyland, moving the theme park’s annual after-hours, specially ticketed seasonal event across the way for the debut of Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure.
The all-new Oogie Boogie Bash, the new separate-ticket party in Disney’s California Adventure Park that begins Sept 17 and runs for 20 select nights, is just around the corner.
Guests will be treated to an unforgettable night of Halloween fun packed with exclusive new experiences, from the new World of Color “Villainous!”, to the immersive treat trails, rare characters and more, here is what we know so far.
All–new World of Color “Villainous”
If your a fan of Disneyland like me, than you will have to admit that World of Color is one of the most amazing nighttime entertainment shows at a Disney park. When Disney just revealed more details about the Halloween version of World of Color at the all new Oogie Boogie Bash, we couldn’t wait to share it with you! This all-new show is called Villainous! and can only be seen on select nights during Oogie Boogie Bash.
Oogie Boogie (from “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”) weaves a Halloween tale about a young girl (and all-new character created by Disney animator Eric Goldberg) named Shelley Marie.
In “Villainous!,” Shelley has a decision to make about her Halloween costume for this year, and finds herself wondering if she could really be as strong and unique as some of her favorite Disney villains. This twisted tale carries Shelley on an unforgettable journey through devious encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more.
You will find projections covering the exterior of Carthay Circle (think Maleficent’s vines choking the building or candy corn piling up in the windows). And during the party, you can stuff bags full of candy at around 10 trick-or-treating trails, most in settings inspired by nefarious foes (think Maleficent’s garden of thorns, a creepy forest with the Evil Queen and Oogie Boogie’s roulette wheel). Expect character interactions sprinkled into the trails, with proper meet-and-greets stationed across the park.
Immersive Treat Trails
We love the incorporation of Tim Burton’s characters into the Disney parties, and when you walk through the new, wonderfully wicked treat trails throughout the park, you can stuff bags full of candy at around 10 trick-or-treating trails, most in settings inspired by nefarious foes (think Maleficent’s garden of thorns, a creepy forest with the Evil Queen and Oogie Boogie’s roulette wheel). Expect character interactions sprinkled into the trails, with proper meet-and-greets stationed across the park. Additional treat trails will feature oversized cauldrons full of treats for all guests to enjoy.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
Villains Grove will employ some compelling hands-on technical wizardry to turn the charming Redwood Creek Challenge Trail into a moody, nighttime walkthrough. You’ll find the trail broken up into sections inspired by Disney villains: a garden from the Queen of Hearts that repaints itself, the elephant graveyard from The Lion King with geyser-triggering drums, a lightning storm brought forth by the Evil Queen, ground projections filled with the swirling spirits of Dr. Facilier’s friends on the other side. There are some pretty deep cuts, too: Frollo, the antagonistic archdeacon from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, has inspired an area with stained glass window-like projections, candlelit chandeliers and haunting organ and choral chanting. To be clear, this isn’t your typical horror maze—no jump scares or human characters here. But Villains Grove definitely promises a still-kid-friendly yet darker take on Halloween entertainment for the park, with the will-o’-the-wisps from Brave ultimately there to lead you to safety through a cool-glowing grove.
DescenDANCE Party
If you’re a “Descendants” fan, you won’t want to miss this. In the Hollywood Land Backlot, a spell is cast, summoning the greatest dance crew from the Isle of the Lost will host a dance party set to the biggest hit songs from all three “Descendants” movies. The original “Villain Kids” might even crash the party through magic mirrors.
Frightfully Fun Parade”
The guest-favorite parade is coming to Disney California Adventure park for the first time! The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow starts the procession, followed by Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse who lead the cavalcade of characters and many mischievous Disney villains who are ready to stir up some trouble along the parade route.
Mickey’s Trick and Treat show
Perfect for young guests, this new, interactive stage production invites kids of all ages to join Mickey Mouse and his pals as they throw a one-of-a-kind Halloween party! Enjoy dancing, not-so-frightening scary-tales, and candy at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
Character encounters
Meet beloved Disney characters – and villains, too. You may be surprised at who you discover at this Halloween party, ready for photos and greetings!
